The Music Artist
Born in the beautiful island of Barbados to Barbadian parents, Jaé’s musical journey began at the tender age of 13 with an appreciation for the late Grammy-Award-Winning singer, Whitney Elizabeth Houston; her greatest childhood dream being one day to meet her.
Jaé grew up in the church, as most Caribbean children do. It was here that she developed her musical tastes and interests, and it wasn’t long after picking up a guitar at age 18 that she decided on the direction her musical journey should take.
After realizing that singing and making music was for her an enjoyable art form, bears testament to her natural creative talents as a Graphic Designer and Branding Professional. Her ambitions continued to grow as she took part in some local voice training sessions, which continue to greatly influence her musical development.
She is keen to point out that everything she listens to directs her musical development in some way. However, she would certainly include Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Chrisette Michele, Erykah Badu, India Arie, Avery Sunshine, Jazmine Sullivan, Sade, Toni Norville and Jill Scott as amongst her biggest influences.
In fact, her influences are vast, encompassing music from every corner of the globe such as reggae, hip-hop, neo-soul, jazz and R&B. She admits her love for R&B and neo-soul, this is not to say that she is restricted to these genres.
At present, her goal is to showcase her talent in various forms, specifically for background vocals at various venues. This determination, tied to her aspiration to become the new face of RnB / Neosoul, will certainly add an extra dimension to the international music industry.
